BDE Europe: The Jungle Book Online Audition

Audition to be a member of the BDE European Cast. Chosen dancers will join BDE for performances of the Jungle Book in Europe starting in March 2020 through 2021. See below for confirmed and tentative dates.

To complete the audition, dancers need to fill out an application, submit photos, submit a solo choreography and will need to Learn, Film, and Submit one of the BDE Audition Choreographies before the deadline. It takes most dancers between 2-3 days to complete the audition, though many ambitious dancers complete the audition within 1 day.

Rehearsals in Frankfurt: March 1-5, 2020

Travel to Hannover on March 5th

Performance: Friday, March 6, 2020 in Hannover at the World of Orient Festival.

Tentative:

Priority casting will be given to dancers that are available for additional tours in Europe.

November 10-26, 2020. Exact dates and locations TBA.

Casted dancers are required to:
  • Learn all show choreography via online videos in advance of rehearsals
  • Provide their own transportation to rehearsal and performance locations
  • Provide their own lodging for the duration of rehearsals and performance period
Casted dancers will receive:
  • A professional rate performance fee
  • Use of all costumes for the performance
  • Free workshops with BDE performers

How long do I have access to the application?
Once you pay your entry fee and sign up for the application, you will have access to the materials until the application closes.
What do I need to audition?
In order to complete the audition application​, you will need to: 1) Pay the application fee 2) Fill out the application form 3) Submit photos (headshot & body shot) 4) Learn the audition choreographies for the role/roles you wish to dance 5) film yourself performing these choreographies and upload to youtube as unlisted 6) submit your youtube link in the appropriate section(s) 5) submit a video of a solo of your choice
How many dancers are chosen for the cast?
Our application process is extremely competitive. For this show, we will be casting 12 dancers in total - up to 8 oriental and up to 4 fusion dancers. We encourage all dancers to audition and to continue to audition as many dancers are asked to join the cast after their second or third audition attempt.
Why do I need to pay to audition?
By paying the audition fee you gain access to a selection of choreography and music - you have the opportunity to learn 3 Jillina/BDE choreographies and create choreography to be seen by Jillina and her team of directors. Additionally, the platform to make this online audition possible is expensive to maintain. We try to price our auditions based on what is affordable for dancers in the local market and create an opportunity for dancers who are unable to travel for an audition to be seen.​

Jillina Carlano

Performer, Master Instructor, Choreographer, Director and Producer, Jillina has devoted her life to dance.

In 1999 Jillina established her own dance company, Jillina’s Sahlala Dancers, currently LA’s premier Middle Eastern and world-fusion dance entertainment company. From 2003-09 she served as Artistic Director and Main Choreographer for the Bellydance Superstars and performed with them for over 700 shows in over a dozen countries.

In 2009 Jillina created Bellydance Evolution to take Middle Eastern dance to a higher level worldwide. Bellydance Evolution has already appeared in over 20 countries and was a featured performer at the Mawazine festival in Morocco, performing for the Queen of Morocco.

Jillina pulls from a strong dance background in Middle Eastern, Folklore, Jazz, Ballet, and Hip Hop to create a colorful Middle Eastern fusion repertoire. She travels extensively, teaching seminars and performing in concerts. Jillina’s talents have taken her to over 30 different countries. Whether Jillina is coaching dancers individually or teaching a group of 1,000 students, she has a unique ability to connect with people on and off the dance floor.

Jillina is the owner of Evolution Dance Studios, located in North Hollywood, California, USA. The studio provides rehearsal space to some of Hollywood’s top artists, including Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance and serves as a focal point for the Los Angeles Dance Community.
